A friend is a hand that is always holding yours, no matter how close or far apart you may be. A friend is
someone who is always there and will always, always care. A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.”

Build it and they shall come

Since we have been in Europe we have had the opportunity to feast our eyes on some of the oldest, biggest, and most beautiful churches in the world.
From the Cathedral de Notre Dome in Luxembourg

to the towering spires in Strassbourg France

to the majestic Kolner Dom in Cologne Germany

Each place we go I swear that this is the grandest and most ornate church I have ever and will ever see...until the next weekend when we encounter something grander! It is hard to capture the essence of these buildings in pictures and the spirit is something that can only be felt from within.

These churches, which date back further than I can even imagine (ummm… like 1242 to be precise)have formed the heart of the cities in which they stand. They are covered (literally) with hand carved statues depicting various characters and scenes from the bible. We have been told that since the majority of people could not read during the time the churches were constructed architects were given the task of keeping the word alive on the façade of the buildings so that people would be reminded daily and could study the word of the bible through pictures. It is easy to see the effect that this had on both the look and feel of the cathedrals.

*Oh and on a side note the Organs in each church are beyond amazing (at least I think so and I wouldn’t even call myself an organ enthusiast). We have even seen one up close and personal that was actually played by Mozart! *

P.S- We finally got internet at home so be looking for more blogging action to come!!!
