Peeping Tom

Those of you who know my family well, know how much we love our games. This is why it will come as no surprise when I let you in on this Bird original. A little doozey we like to call Peeping Tom! What exactly is Peeping Tom you ask?? Lets just say it is a scavenger hunt of sorts, invented for long road trips, where the players are rewarded for finding people doing unusual things. A typical list might include finding someone who is…

Picking their nose while driving
Singing to themselves
Chewing their fingernails
Looking back at you
You get the idea!

I bring this up only because Germany would be like Peeping Tom heaven!

I say this for 2 reasons.

1. It is OK to stare. More than OK really, I am pretty sure that it is encouraged. Oh…and don’t bother waving, that only makes them stare harder. I could see this coming in handy however, when you are trying to find someone, say, driving with their knees, because when they catch you starring directly into their front window you will not have to pretend you were only stretching your neck and got stuck in the compromising position. In fact, if you look away to quickly them might get a little concerned.

2. Germans do some pretty interesting things! Lets just say that finding someone peeing on the side of the road (a urinater as we like to call it) is no longer worth the most points on the list. It may come as a surprise to you (as is did me) that peeing on the side of the road is not illegal in Germany. I think they are concerned that the trees on the side of the road are missed in the rain so they need a little extra watering every now and again. It is VERY common to see someone pulled of to the side (neighborhoods, parking lots, freeways, it doesn’t matter) and relieving themselves.

So after you have counted all of the red cars or picked out the alphabet on road side signs and still have time on the road to spare you are welcome to try one of our family favorites.....

I knew that game was a winner! Now you just need to get some fake glasses and a nose we gave away as prizes and you would be all set. Maybe I'll get you some at the dollar store next time.

Wow! We're going to have to come up with a whole new set of parameters! The old game boards just aren't going to cut it in Germany, are they???? By the way...I loved the Wal-Mart bingo. I'm encouraging Kayla to use it for her next scavenger hunt...much safer than a bunch of teenagers driving around looking for things!
